€2 Commemorative Coin Celebrates 30 Years of EU Flag

Nations of the European Union – Germany, Lithuania, Finland, France, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, and Latvia – have issued a €2 commemorative coin to mark the 30th year of the flag of the European Union. The coin is legal tender in all Euro zone nations was designed by Georgios Stamatopoulos. The obverse depicts 12 stars morphing into human figures embracing the birth of a new Europe. The reverse is similar to other €2 circulation coins. The coins bear a lettered edge and have varying mintage according to the country they were issued in. An additional 10,000 Brilliant Uncirculated quality coins in a special souvenir packing will also be struck.The inner part of the bimetallic coins are made of Nickel-Brass while the outer rings are made of Cupro-Nickel. The coins bear the name of the country they were struck in.
